Clinical Pharmacy Services

With a growing demand for prescription drug coverage taking a toll on state budgets, it is essential that states closely monitor prescription practices not only for clinical effectiveness but for opportunities to control spending. Commonwealth Medicine’s Clinical Pharmacy Services program brings a proven track record of delivering cost containment strategies that save money and support clinical outcomes.

The program was developed in 1999 primarily to help Massachusetts Medicaid (MassHealth) meet its federal requirements to provide drug utilization review (DUR) for its pharmacy program. It has since evolved and expanded into a program that offers comprehensive prescription drug management services to Massachusetts, as well as other states.

Our novel and effective consulting and service models—customized for each client—ensure that state agencies maximize every health care dollar spent. Today, Clinical Pharmacy Services is one of the nation’s leaders in securing maximum cost savings for its clients.
